Today’s onedaydress look: Victoria’s Secret sun yellow skirt, Cotton On black tank, Show Pony blazer, Bershka bow necklace, BCBG black pumps
Weddings are my favourite party! Seeing friends or family so happy in love is contagious. The set-up of some weddings can magically transport you out of this world and into the bride’s imagination – at least for a few hours.
In recent years I have started to mentally post-it ideas for my own wedding dress. As I pass the dress makers on Parramatta Rd in Petersham/Stanmore while on the bus, I daydream about the perfect dress for me (now if only I could get A to propose…)
I have already mentioned that my beautician, Tam, and her now husband, Alister, have become good friends of ours. On the weekend they tied the knot. Tam is possibly the least traditional bride one could come across, in fact she was dead set against marriage until a couple of years ago, when Al was able bring her around.
So she skipped down the aisle, in her beautiful champagne dress with floral pieces specially designed and imported from Brazil and her stunning Novo shoes, to meet Al. They said their vows and made lifetime promises, both breaking into tears and making us all grateful we had tissues for the occasion. After the ceremony we moved to the marquee where cocktails and canapés were served. The bride and groom entered, said speeches, cut the cake and we partied all night long. It was one of the best weddings I have been to in a long time!
For me, this wedding highlighted another city/country difference. What to wear to a wedding. The invite said “Cocktail”. I dressed in a Victoria’s Secret floral halter dress with Zara brown satin wedges, A wore black suit pants and an Armani black/white pinstripe shirt and Prada dress shoes.
Thank you so so much to Tam and Al for a wonderful Saturday, enjoy your honeymoon and we look forward to seeing you when you get back.
