Day 153 – be nice to the kids

Today’s onedaydress look: Topshop “Moto Baxter” jeans, Siren Lecia 2 magenta wedges from Wanted Shoes (the shoes were in my car when I took the photo), oversized white tee from Vine Apparel, Nasty Gal chambord blazer, bracelet from Mae & Mae – Leichhardt, earrings from Chapel St – Melbourne

When I was younger, I used to be a chub.

I have a relative (wait, do they still count as a relative if you have chosen not to see them for 10 years? Probably not) who took it upon herself, without my parents’ knowledge, to sit me down as an 11 or 12 year old and tell me that I wore too much make up, referring to my love at the time of blue eye shadow, and that I was too fat and the clothes I wore only exaggerated my weight. She will swear that she said it out of concern (read: embarassment). She compared me to my 2 gymnast sisters and told me I needed to lose a lot of weight if I wanted to be happy…wise words to mould a pre-teen into an eating disorder!!!

Community Service Announcement: if you are dealing with a child who loves you, please remember to be kind to them.
